David Spurlin (painter)
David Spurlin Jr. (1923–2009) was a Los Angeles-born impressionist landscape and seascape painter and member of the California Art Club whose oils appear at regional auctions.

David Spurlin (July 25, 1923 – December 30, 2009), also listed as David Spurlin Jr., was an American painter of impressionist landscapes and seascapes. He worked mainly in Southern California.[1][2]
Biography
The California Art Club's historical membership roster says Spurlin was born in Los Angeles and was an artist member of the club, as well as a member of the San Gabriel Fine Arts Association and the Pasadena Society of Artists.[1] According to the roster, he studied at Occidental College, Pasadena City College, Chouinard Art Institute and Art Center College of Design, and took private instruction from Sam Myde Harris [sic, probably Sam Hyde Harris], Frode Dann, Herb Fuhrmann and Phil Daves (spellings as printed).[1] The roster cites obituaries in the Long Beach Press-Telegram and Pasadena Star-News of January 8–9, 2010.[1] A dealer places his studio in Altadena, near Pasadena, and notes some association with Massachusetts.[3]

- a nighttime harbor scene of Cape Ann, Massachusetts, offered by Mark Lawson Antiques on April 8, 2023, with an estimate of $200–$400
Dealers and eBay sellers have offered his coastal scenes. One listing is an 11 × 14 oil on canvasboard of California cliffs, rocks and waves priced at $250 by Jon Berg Fine Art.[3] Another is a 10 × 8 inch "Laguna Cove" seascape.[4] An oil with that title and size sold on eBay for $114.45 on July 1, 2026.[5]
