A Ballotpedia search for the surname in September 2026 returned 14 pages. Every one of them concerned the Alabama, California and Indiana candidates below or their opponents.^[1]

Alabama

• Don Spurlin, an Albertville builder and developer who owns Don Spurlin Construction, ran twice for office.^[2][3] In the 2008 Albertville mayoral race he finished second of four candidates, more than 1,000 votes behind the winner, Randy Amos.^[4] In 2010 he was runner-up to Clay Scofield in the four-way Republican primary for Alabama Senate District 9, then lost the July 13 runoff to Scofield, 10,571 to 9,956.^[5][6] See also Don Spurlin Construction.
• Mark Spurlin lost the 2025 Pike Road mayoral election to incumbent Gordon Stone. The town's official canvass gave Stone 1,567 votes to Spurlin's 1,515, after election-night counts of 1,566 to 1,512.^[7][8] See Mark Spurlin (Pike Road mayoral candidate).
• Chris Spurlin has been on the Oxford City Council since 2008.^[9] In 2025 the entire Oxford city government, including Spurlin, was returned in an uncontested election, according to the circuit judge who swore them in.^[10] See Chris Spurlin (Oxford, Alabama).

California

• Stephanie Spurlin ran for the Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Education, Trustee Area 2, in the November 8, 2022, general election. The seat had no incumbent. Michael Vargas won with 7,529 votes (55.2 percent) to Spurlin's 6,104 (44.8 percent).^[11][12]

Indiana

• Sue Spurlin, a Republican, was on the ballot for the Shawnee Township Board in Fountain County in 2022, in the May 3 primary and the November 8 general election, alongside John Allen.^[13][14] She ran again in 2026 for the three-seat board, appearing in the May 5 primary and on the November 3 general-election ballot with John Allen and Steve Mroczkiewicz.^[15] Ballotpedia does not report vote totals for these township races.^[13][15]

Kentucky

• Gaylan Spurlin, a Greenville Democrat and longtime Muhlenberg County clerk, filed on November 4, 2021, to run for Muhlenberg County judge-executive.^[16][17] He told the Messenger-Inquirer that his priorities were economic development and countywide broadband, along with affordable housing, childcare and youth activities.^[18] In the November 8, 2022, general election he lost to Mack McGehee, a Greenville farmer and businessman, who received 56.3 percent of the vote.^[17]
• Brent T. Spurlin, a Democrat, was a candidate for Todd County magistrate, District 4, in 2018.^[19] He was first elected to the seat in 2002 and held it for 20 years, leaving at the end of 2022. Before that he served four terms on the Elkton City Council.^[20]
