Musical theatre
- Brenda Wren Spurlin was in the cast of Brigadoon in 1963, the first season of Oklahoma City Lyric Theater. According to the cast notes in the program, she graduated from Oklahoma City University (O.C.U.) in 1961 as Brenda Bowyer and had played leading roles there in Brigadoon, Carousel, Così fan tutte and Amahl and the Night Visitors. The notes also say she had been a guest soloist with the Oklahoma City and Amarillo symphony orchestras, had appeared with the Dallas State Fair Musicals company in shows such as Song of Norway and Destry Rides Again, and had spent a summer with the Central City Opera Company.[1]
- Dillon Spurlin has had leading roles in Fargo–Moorhead productions reviewed by BroadwayWorld. They include Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar (Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre, 2019), Anthony in Sweeney Todd (the same company, 2019), Orange in Patrick Kasper's new musical Purple Rhymes with Orange (2020), Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys (Stage West, 2023) and Crutchie in Disney's Newsies (Stage West, 2025).[2][3][4][5][6] He was among the nominees in BroadwayWorld's reader-voted Fargo awards in 2019 and 2023.[7][8] The 2019 Jesus Christ Superstar review says that he was from Detroit Lakes and that the show was his first local production.[2] That fits the singer-songwriter Dillon Spurlin, who comes from Detroit Lakes and later lived in Fargo, though the reviews do not mention his recordings.
- Paul Spurlin, described as a professor at Mississippi State University's Meridian campus, played the grumpy department-store Santa in Laurel Little Theatre's A Christmas Story: The Musical in Laurel, Mississippi, in 2018.[9] Nothing links him to the Georgia minister Paul Spurlin.
Opera and concert singers
- Doug Spurlin is a tenor based in Tucson, Arizona. A 2014 concert announcement in the Los Alamos Daily Post said he had sung Rodolfo in La Bohème, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus and Siegmund in Die Walküre with companies including Arizona Opera, the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and Northwest Arkansas Opera Theater. It also said he had made his international debut as Siegmund with the Polish National Opera in Warsaw. The same announcement said he was a staff singer at St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church in Tucson and had sung with Tucson Chamber Artists for five seasons.[10] In 2010 the Arizona Daily Star announced that he would open St. Philip's summer concert series with the pianist Jeffrey Campbell.[11]
- Sarah Spurlin is a soprano based in Oklahoma. Cimarron Opera's artist page says she has a master's degree from the Eastman School of Music, where she sang Madame Lidoine in Dialogues des Carmélites, and a bachelor's degree in voice performance from the University of Oklahoma. It lists her as Casilda in Cimarron Opera's The Gondoliers. The page also says she appears regularly with OK City Opera and teaches as an adjunct at the University of Central Oklahoma.[12] The University of Central Oklahoma cast her as Laetitia in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief, staged from February 27 to March 1, 2026,[13] and BroadwayWorld announced in June 2026 that she would sing Lady Saphir in Cimarron Opera's Patience in Norman on June 26–28.[14] She also leads Cimarron Opera's "Opera Club" at the Norman Adult Wellness and Education center.[15]
Dance
- Tabi Spurlin is named by Wikipedia as one of the people who have contributed choreography to Paradosi Ballet Company, a Christian ballet company in Tacoma, Washington.[16]
Broadway
No Broadway credits under the Spurlin name were found. BroadwayWorld's people database, searched in September 2026, lists only the English playwright John Spurling, whose surname is a different one.[17] A web search limited to the Internet Broadway Database (IBDB) and Playbill, made the same month, found no pages mentioning Spurlin; IBDB's own search page did not display results when tried. BroadwayWorld articles also name Spurlins in high-school award lists, but these are not included here because the performers were minors at the time.
