Many people surnamed Spurlin appear on college athletics websites. This page collects those with public roster biographies or hall-of-fame listings. The information comes mainly from the colleges' own athletics sites. Basketball

• Jalyn Spurlin, a 5 ft 8 in guard from Tampa, Florida (Armwood High School), played four seasons for Anderson University (South Carolina). As a senior in 2022–23 she averaged 11.9 points in 29 games with 26 starts, scored a career-high 26 points against Tusculum and made the SAC All-Tournament team.^[1]
• Walter Spurlin played men's basketball at Santa Fe College from 1980 to 1982. The college lists him as its all-time leading rebounder, with 514 rebounds, and named him its All-Sports Male Player of the Year in 1982. He went on to Columbus State University in Georgia and was inducted into Santa Fe's athletics hall of fame in 2013.^[2]
• Greg Spurling, with the Spurling spelling, played center at Furman and Carson–Newman before the Phoenix Suns drafted him in 1986.^[3]

Volleyball

• Riley Spurlin, a 6 ft 1 in right-side hitter from Marietta, Georgia, played for Rollins College. Her roster biography says she won three state titles and a 2017 national championship at Walton High School. As a 2019 freshman she led Rollins with 345 kills, ninth in the Sunshine State Conference, and was named SSC Offensive Player of the Week. She opted out of 2021 because of COVID-19.^[4]
• Kelsey Spurlin, a right-side hitter from Gaffney, South Carolina, played for USC Aiken. As a 2019 senior she received a Peach Belt Conference Elite 15 award and was named first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District.^[5] She later returned to the school as an assistant volleyball coach under the name Kelsey Spurlin Yarbrough. Her staff biography, dated May 2025, says she was then in her third year in the job, that she played for the Pacers from 2016 to 2019, including the program's first Elite Eight in 2016, and that she had earlier been head junior varsity coach and a varsity assistant at Aiken High School.^[6]

Track and field

• Kaylea Spurlin of Winter Haven, Florida, was on Warner University's women's track and field roster from 2010 to 2012 (NAIA).^[7]

Football

• Max Spurlin played guard for North Carolina. He was on the 1942 freshman team, lettered in 1943 and 1946, served in the Navy during the war, and is listed on the university's 1947 roster as a junior.^[8][9]
• Larry Spurlin was a captain of Wisconsin's 1981 team as a senior linebacker. His college statistics are summarized in Spurlins in sports.^[10]
• Alex Spurlin, a strong safety from Opp, Alabama, is listed on Auburn's 1985 roster as a sophomore and on its 1986 roster as a junior, wearing No. 16. Auburn's 1985 roster also includes linebacker Ed Spurlin, who is also from Opp.^[11]
• Matt Spurlin, an offensive lineman from Surprise, Arizona (Willow Canyon High School), is on the 2026 University of Jamestown roster as a senior.^[12]

Halls of fame

College and school hall-of-fame honors are collected in Spurlins in athletic halls of fame. Besides Walter Spurlin at Santa Fe College (above), college inductees include James Spurlin, of Kentucky State University's class of 1950, who entered its Athletics Hall of Fame in 1992,^[13] and the 1992 softball All-American Cindy Shore Spurlin, inducted into the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Athletic Hall of Fame in April 2026.^[14]

• Chris Spurlin, a 1990 graduate who ran cross country and track and field, was named to the 2024 class of the McDowell High School Athletic Hall of Fame in Erie, Pennsylvania. This is a high school honor, not a college one. The class was to be inducted on September 28, 2024.^[15]
